Georgetown Basketball: Portal Phase
Georgetown's roster should look different next season. It needs to.
Letβs not get it twisted.
Shopping the transfer portal is a 12-month ordeal in which coaches gauge which players will be leaving and have checked out mentally during the season, and who might be available.
Of course, coaches get help with that through several channels, including AAU coaches, player representatives, and other means. So by the time the portal officially opens, coaches have a targeted list of players and are developing acquisition price points.
For Georgetown, this is year four for head coach Ed Cooley, and the portal will be very important to a season where there will be expectations, at the very least, to be in a position to get an at-large bid.
Since we are not yet close to having a comprehensive portal list, letβs take a general look at what Georgetownβs portal strategy should be.
